23How to have a great party
Tags : kids Posted in: Parenting
A children’s party can be a massive organisational task and if there are lots of children can get quite pricey. Every time you buy something for the party make a wise investment, buy things which you can use again. That way you can build up a collection of items which can be used every time.
Try and make decorations in the early years, then replace them with better items when you can in the future.
One of the difficulties is trying to keep up-to-date with your child’s favorite TV show or cartoon characters, which are always expected at parties. Ensure you know what they like well in advance and have a look at what items you can buy. If they aren’t too expensive and you think you’d struggle to create something similar you may have to buy the item. But in most cases you should be able to create something which will look good and please your child.
Maybe you can come up with something of the same theme which you can’t buy in the shops.
Make sure you buy plenty of film for your camera / camcorder so your child can keep the photos / film and can show his friends.
Try and make the birthday cake or buy a pre-themed cake from your local supermarket and decorate it yourself.
Decide what party games you’ll have and run through them in the room where you’ll have the party so you can remove any furniture which might get in the way. Above all make sure each child gets a prize, this can be candy or small trophy tokens, maybe chocolate gold coins.
Enlist the help of several adults and run through the party plan so that everyone knows what to do in case of hiccup.
